It is with great sadness that we announce the 1 March 2017 passage of Feryal Gharahi. Feryal, along with Jessica Neuwirth and Navi Pillay, was one of the founders of Equality Now. She was a pioneer on women’s rights and a fighter for justice. Feryal undertook Equality Now’s first mission to Bosnia-Herzegovina in 1993 to investigate and shine a light on the stories of rape that were coming from the region. This ultimately led to the arrest and conviction of former Bosnian leader Radovan Karadzic for genocide.
We thank Feryal for all she did and the so many lives she touched.
Rest in peace, Feryal.
