Actors Laura and Vanessa Marano produce, and star in a new film, Saving Zoë, to be released on July 12th. While creating this film, the sisters reached out to Equality Now as the themes of sexual exploitation and online sex trafficking touched on in the film are some of the issues that we tackle every day. This was submitted in response to the Call for Input by the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights on child rights and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
In the United States, 2 out of every 3 children sold for sex are trafficked online.
In the United Kingdom, more than 8,500 sexual services ads are posted online every month. Traffickers are able to easily post ads for trafficked women and children.
The Philippines Department of Justice receives over 3,000 reports each month of children being sexually exploited and sold online.Read more
