Our Team
Nyambura Thanji joined Equality Now in February 2014. She has over eight years of experience in external and internal auditing at NGOs, community-based organizations and trusts. Previously, she worked with auditing firms Nexia International and Mazars, where she was Assistant Audit Manager in charge of Development Sector clients. She also has wide experience in training, program and financial management. Nyambura holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Egerton University, Kenya. She is a CPA(K), a Certified Information Systems Auditor and a practicing member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK).
The law is a sacred tool for Nyambura. Every day she learns about cases of women who are violated. According to Nyambura, only through law can perpetrators be prosecuted of the abuse and injustices they commit against women.
Nyambura’s shero is her mother, who bore six children. Though her mother passed away when she was just seven years old, she heard so much about her: that she was hardworking and she owned land where her dad built their family home. Above all, her mother built a strong man in her father, who acted as “dad” and “mum” for the whole family. Nyambura’s favorite quote is by Sheryl Sandberg: “We are a new generation, and we need a new approach.”
When Nyambura is not analyzing or tracking budgets, she enjoys going on road trips and sightseeing. She loves the beautiful Kenyan scenery.
