Enock Welemba
Associate Program Officer
Enock was born and raised in Kakamega County, Western Kenya, and is now based in Nairobi.
As Associate Program Officer, Enock supports the primarily the day to day running and coordination of the SOAWR Coalition to which Equality Now serves as the secretariat. This includes being part of the team carrying through the All for Maputo Protocol Initiative and SOAWR’s Strategic Objectives under the SOAWR Strategic Plan 2020-2024.
Before joining Equality Now, he worked as a legal assistant at the Office of the Attorney General and Department of Justice. He represented the Office of the Honorable Attorney General in the Campaign Against the lowering of the Age of Sexual Consent from 18 to 16 years, partnering with teams from Equality Now, CRAWN Trust, COVAW among other organizations in 2019. Kenya National Legal Aid Service (NLAS) formerly (NALEAP).
Besides lawyering and human rights enthusiasm, Enock loves languages, particularly, French, English and Mandarin Chinese -including translation, interpretation and transcription thereof.
