Bahrain – Equality Now submission to the Committee on the Rights of the Child (CRC) 80th Session January 2019

The submission expresses our concern about human rights violations faced by children in Bahrain, particularly by the Bahraini Citizenship Act, which denies women the equal ability to confer citizenship to their children as men; Article 353 of the Penal Code, which allows an exemption from punishment for rapists who marry their victims, who are often underage; and Article 20 of the Family Law (19) of 2017 which allows for girls to be married off before the age of 18.

The Committee referenced this submission in their Concluding Observations.
