Samantha Ferrell-Schweppenstedde

Program Officer

End Sex Trafficking

Samantha Ferrell-Schweppenstedde joined Equality Now in July 2016. She brings over ten years of experience championing women’s rights in Cambodia, Germany, the USA and the UK. Prior to joining Equality Now, Samantha was a UK Government-designated First Responder under the National Referral Mechanism to identify victims of human trafficking, as well as the Anti-Trafficking Advocate at the POPPY Project at Eaves, where she provided rights-based advocacy and direct support to female survivors of human trafficking. Her expertise lies in understanding the needs of women who have been traumatized by experiences of gender based violence. Samantha holds a Master of Public Policy from the Hertie School of Governance in Berlin and a B.A. in Women’s Studies from Tufts University in the USA.

Samantha believes that the voices of vulnerable girls and women have been deliberately and systematically silenced and that it is the duty of every individual to speak up for them. She is deeply inspired by each of the survivors of human trafficking she has had the privilege to know and to support, and their voices continue to guide all of the work that she does.

Samantha’s main interest is activism. In her free time, she enjoys hiking and dance parties.
