Cossette Rivera joined Equality Now in February 2009. She advanced to the dual role of Office Manager and Bookkeeper, supporting the Director of Finance and Administration in April 2014. Prior to joining Equality Now, Cossette served as Residential Counselor and Administrative Assistant at YAI National Institute For People With Disabilities. There, she provided individual and group counseling to clients with intellectual disabilities, mental illnesses and substance abuse backgrounds. Cossette has extensive experience in administrative and events management. She has served on the Board of Directors of Hands On New York, Inc. since 2007, helping with their annual community events. Cossette holds an Associate degree in Paralegal Studies and is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Legal Studies at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, USA.
Cossette’s inspiration is knowing that if we continue to fight, we can change things. For Cossette, the law is the basis of our argument. Cossette’s inspiration is her mother and her favorite quote is: “Live, laugh and love.”
When she is not managing the office or analyzing budgets, Cossette enjoys family gatherings, outdoor activities and shopping.
