Evelyn Chen joined Equality Now in April 2017. Evelyn has spent more than a decade developing and implementing fundraising strategies for mission-driven organizations, spearheading donor engagement programs and building and leading teams. She served most recently as Senior Director of Development at Panthera, overseeing all development efforts with a particular focus on designing and executing a global fundraising infrastructure to support the organization as it transitioned into its second decade. Prior to Panthera, Evelyn served as Director of Development at New Yorkers for Parks and in a variety of fundraising roles at The Nature Conservancy. She holds a B.A. in English from Dartmouth College, USA.
For Evelyn, the foundation of a positive, productive relationship is based on trust; at a societal level this trust can and should manifest in the rule of law. Whether they are blazing trails at the highest levels of government, science, business or culture, Evelyn’s sheroes are women who own their power and use it to make the world a better place. One of her favorite quotes is from Mary Anne Evans, who wrote under the pen name George Eliot: “It’s never too late to be what you might have been.”
Outside the office, she enjoys looking outward through travel and reading, looking inward through meditation and yoga, organizing (and reorganizing), snuggling her dog and continuing her perpetual quest for the perfect powder day.
