James McGrail joined Equality Now in July 2018. He previously studied Religion at SOAS University of London (UK) and worked as an intern in communications at various non profits including, Farm Africa, On Our Radar and Equality Now.
James has always been motivated by a desire for fairness. His sheroes are his mother and sister, who taught him how to be loud and fearless. He draws inspiration from every woman he’s ever met and understands through their experiences of inequality just how far we have to go to achieve gender equality. James believes discrimination in the law is the foundation of the inequality women face, so it’s in altering legal systems that we create lasting change. His favorite quote is from Maya Angelou: “Without courage we cannot practice any other virtue with consistency. We can't be kind, true, merciful, generous, or honest.”
Outside the office, James enjoys swimming, listening to podcasts and reading.
