Development Campaign Officer
Andrea Edman joined Equality Now in April 2017. She previously served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Cambodia where she saw her female students and co-teachers struggle to gain as many opportunities as the boys and men in the community. This experience fueled her passion to break down these barriers by advocating for the rights of women and girls. She holds a B.A. in International Affairs and Theatre from George Washington University, and is currently a Candidate at The New School for an M.S. degree in Gender in International Affairs.
She is inspired by girls like Malala Yousafzai who overcome adversity and fight for their education and rights. Her favorite quote is by Cheryl Strayed: “The particularity of our problems can be made bearable only through the recognition of our universal humanity. We suffer uniquely, but we survive the same way.”
Outside of the office, Andrea enjoys learning about new cultures through travel, reading with a good cup of coffee and seeing theatre.
