The 23rd session of the Human Rights Council (HRC) is taking place in Geneva, Switzerland from 27 May to 14 June 2013. The HRC is an inter-governmental body within the United Nations system responsible for strengthening the promotion and protection of human rights around the globe and for addressing situations of human rights violations and make recommendations on them.

On 4 June, Equality Now’s London Office Director, Jacqui Hunt, made an oral statement to the Council, encouraging the need for swift reform of sex discriminatory nationality laws.
