Tanya Sukhija joined Equality Now as a Legal Fellow in September 2013, splitting her time between the Nairobi and New York offices. She works across all program areas and is supported by the UCLA School of Law Public Service Fellowship. Prior to working at Equality Now, Ms. Sukhija gained experience on promoting gender equality and ending sexual violence in South Africa, international human and civil rights litigation in U.S. courts, monitoring cases in international criminal courts in The Hague, and providing legal assistance to survivors of domestic violence among the South Asian immigrant community in California. She holds a J.D. from the UCLA School of Law, where she focused on human rights, transitional justice, and international criminal law, and a B.A. in International Development Studies and Political Science from UCLA. Ms. Sukhija is licensed to practice law in California and is seeking admission to the New York State Bar.
