Serving on the board for nearly a decade, the founder and director of the Women’s Centre for Legal Aid and Counseling in East Jerusalem has shared her insights and expertise in defending women’s rights with Equality Now. Maha previously headed the Quaker Service and Information Centre, the first organization to provide legal assistance to Palestinians in Israeli jails. Today, Maha heads her own not-for-profit dedicated to the promotion of the social and legal status of Palestinian women. She joined Equality Now’s Board of Directors in 2002, and has also served on the board of various Palestinian human rights, peace and women’s organizations. She continues to be a staunch leader working to end human rights abuses against women and girls.
