"This trend towards the 'medicalisation' of FGM in countries such as Egypt and Indonesia is an enormous risk to progress and something we will continue to tackle during 2014," says Equality Now's Adolescent Girls' Legal Defence Fund co-ordinator, Mehr Qureshi. "Progress in places such as Kenya is heartening, but going forward momentum should be maintained to ensure that girls are properly protected and supported," Qureshi said.
