Mary Wandia joined Equality Now’s Nairobi office in July 2014 as FGM Program Manager. Ms. Wandia is a Feminist Pan-Africanist with over 14 years’ experience working with regional and international organizations on women’s rights, and with regional integration and governance. She is also knowledgeable on navigating regional economic communities, the African Union and United Nations agencies, and is skilled in: grant-making, coalition building, project management, fundraising, policy advocacy and campaigns. Prior to joining Equality Now, Ms. Wandia was the Regional Program Officer for the Open Society Foundation’s African Regional Office; the Pan Africa Gender Justice Lead for the Oxfam Great Britain Pan Africa Program; Regional Women's Rights Coordinator-Africa for ActionAid International; and an Advocacy Officer with FEMNET. She holds a Bachelor’s in Education from Kenyatta University and an M.A. in International Studies from the University of Nairobi.
