Girl Summit 2014
22 July • London, UK & Washington, DC

The Girl Summit, hosted by UNICEF and UK Prime Minister David Cameron, will bring together community leaders, governments, international organizations and the private sector to mobilize an end female genital mutilation (FGM) and child, early and forced marriage (CEFM) within a generation.

The British Embassy is hosting a US event on the same day. Discrimination in Law Legal Advisor Antonia Kirkland will be speaking at The Center for Global Development  on a ‘Sharing What Works’ panel about Equality Now’s work on FGM both domestically and internationally. In the UK, Policy Director Shelby Quast will facilitate an End FGM Social Change Campaign forum with Summit delegates on 23 July to discuss next steps arising from the Summit.

Equality Now is committed to ensuring that governments provide a strong legal framework to protect girls from human rights violations, including child marriage and FGM, as a matter of global priority.
