Literary Reception - Book River of Flesh and Other Stories: The Prostituted Woman in Indian Short Fiction

Global Executive Director, Yasmeen Hassan, will read a selection from Apne Aap Founder and President, Ruchira Gupta’s newly published anthology. Dramatic readings will expose the brutal reality of the exploitation of some of the worlds most marginalized and girls, while highlighting their extraordinary resilience. Equality Now is one of the event’s co-sponsors.

During CSW60, we are presenting our newest arts in advocacy piece addressing female genital mutilation (FGM), Her Story, Uncut, inspired by powerful stories from Equality Now’s partners and written and directed by Katie Cappiello. The emotional play features stories from Kenya, the UK, Sierra Leone and the US, amplifying the voices of girls and women who are championing efforts to address FGM in their communities and around the world.  Equality Now commissioned the piece with the generous support of the Wallace Global Fund.
