RUINED RUINED is a haunting, probing work about the resilience of the human spirit during times of war. Set in a small mining town in Democratic Republic of Congo, the drama follows Mama Nadi, a shrewd businesswoman in a land torn apart by civil war. Critics have been wowed by this "emotionally scorching new play…[and] the exquisite balance the playwright brings—of brutality and poetry, hope and even humor" (David Rooney, Variety). Ben Brantley of The New York Times writes that RUINED is "a comfortable, old-fashioned drama about an uncomfortable of-the-moment subject." April 7, 2009 Manhattan Theatre Club Reception and informal discussion with playwright to follow performance.
