Born in the Big Rains tells Fadumo’s story of the life-altering effects of female genital mutilation (FGM). It recounts her journey from life as a nomad on the Somali steppes to that of an activist in Germany dedicated to ending FGM. The book has received starred reviews in the U.S. and Germany.

Take the F train to 2nd Avenue, walk along Houston one block to 1st Ave., turn right onto Allen. The J/M/Z lines stop at Delancey and Essex is 5 blocks from the bookstore.
