Benefit Event Highlighting Commercial Sexual Exploitation

In September 2003, Equality Now held a fundraising benefit in New York, sponsored by Glamour magazine, to highlight the commercial sexual exploitation of women and those who have survived this human rights violation. Under the artistic direction of poet/playwright Sarah Jones, the event featured prominent actors Meryl Streep, Julianne Moore, Hilary Swank and Julia Stiles and journalist Lisa Ling, who presented readings of testimonies and other texts about various forms of commercial sexual exploitation of women, as well as a musical performance by singer/songwriter Alanis Morissette.
